Have you ever wished for someone famous to read you a bedtime story? Or maybe read one to your child?
The makers of storylineonline.net and the Screen Actors Guild have partnered to make a unique web site that has actors reading books to you.
Choose the book you want to read (there is a list available at the site) and you can see who will be reading to you. Some of the actors include Amanda Bynes, Sean Astin, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Jason Alexander… even Al Gore.
I started reviewing this site by choosing the book, "A Bad Case of Stripes" read by Sean Astin. While I was in the middle of reading (you can read along with the actor or actress at the bottom of the screen with captions), my 12 year old son walked in and sat down to watch too. We both loved the different voices Sean used for the characters in the book. After the story is over you are given the option to take a really short survey.
You also have the option of downloading some printable activities to go along with the books as well.
I will say that storylineonline.net might not be the site for young children, but preschool and up will enjoy it. As the stories are read, viewers also see the pages that coincide with what the actor says, so you can read along or just watch and listen!
Personally, as a huge reader, I think this is a great site. There are so many takeaways for parents, teachers and kids.
