It’s taken me almost a full month to recover from BlogHer. The experience definitely made me more aware of my place in the Blogosphere (more posts on that coming soon), but I’m still totally pumped to attend the Type-A Mom Conference.
See, for those of you who don’t know about Type-A Mom, it’s a venue for mom writers and bloggers to come together and write about the topics they care about the most. Some moms write in a blog style, which is more relaxed and conversational, others write in true journalistic style (as many Type-A Mom writers are journalists by nature) and then there are the rest of us (that’s me!) Who mix journalism with blogging in order to entertain my readers but give them the information they need. It’s an excellent fit for me because I’d rather inform you but entertain you in the process. So being able to attend the Type-A Mom Conference is the trifecta of all conferences for me. It will also be my last conference this year (sniff).
I began my writing career in December of 2005 as a ghostwriter, and then slowly published on various online sites and as a stringer for a local weekly newspaper. Blogging followed shortly as I wasn’t satisfied just writing for everyone else, I wanted to write for me. Though I’ve won educational scholarships for my writing, there is something far more satisfying being able to tell a story in your own words every single day. Whether I’m helping to promote a brand as I have in past reviews, host a giveaway, or talk about my four heathen adorable children, it’s all been in my own words.
The Type-A Mom Conference isn’t going to simply teach me how to use my authentic voice, it’s going to sharpen it and help me build a blog where my readers never sit back and scratch their heads and wonder, “what the heck did she just say?”
The conference is made up of some amazing and talented speakers ranging from bloggers and journalists to Public Relations and Media representatives. It will be and IS the place to learn, grow, and network within an intimate setting.
I’ve looked through the schedule and my calendar will be FULL. I plan on taking all of the sessions except one (I may even change my mind on that!) If that doesn’t tell you that there is something for everyone at this conference, I don’t know what will. I plan on getting the most that I can out of this conference.
Right now, I’m looking for sponsors who can help defray the cost of the sponsorship; particularly the hotel room and travel expenses:
Travel (includes car rental & gas): $500
Hotel Accomodations (September 23 – 27th) $540.48 – Already Booked.
Total costs: $1,040.48
Before you say, “Well we can’t sponsor anyone right now,” let me tell you why you can.
I’m looking for partial sponsors to help cover these costs. This means, I’m open to working with more than one sponsor so that the total cost isn’t put upon by one company or brand. However, if you feel that you can cover the entire cost, please let me know.
Ideally, I’d like to work with mom and kid friendly companies who share my passion for enlightening an audience while entertaining them at the same time.
Examples of this might include:
- Educational companies
- Health and nutrition
- Safety
- Travel
- Entertainment (including games, technology, toys,)
The list could go on but I think you get the picture. I want you to enjoy sponsoring me as much as I want to enjoy generating buzz and helping you build your brand from a mom perspective.
So maybe you’re interested but you need to know what I will do as part of my sponsorship (It’s OK. I know you’re asking. I would too!)
Depending on your level of sponsorship, my contribution to your brand may include:
- Wearing your clothing, or sporting accessories from your brand.
- Blogging about your brand, before, during, and after the conference (may include video blogs or live blogging through 12second TV). If your brand fits with my road trip, I’ll be blogging about why your brand is essential for traveling with kids as well.
- Ad placement on The Guilty Parent from September through December this year.
- Regular Tweets generating buzz about your brand before, during and after the conference. (Live tweets during the conference)
- Pass out samples, swag or literature to conference attendees. The choice is yours.
- Generate buzz about your brand throughout the conference as I mix and mingle with conference attendees.
- Product Review (by myself and my son if applicable, as he will be coming with me and attending Kid Con) and or Giveaway of your product prior to the Conference.
There you have it. If you value reaching moms on an genuine and intimate level and are truly interested in getting the word about what your brand is, what it does, and how it can help today’s busy moms, then we are a good match.
Additionally, as I mentioned, Peanut, my littlest boy who is 3, will be coming along to the Type-A Mom Conference and attending the Kid Con that is being hosted. So if you are a kid centric brand, there may be additional tweets, vlogs, or blog posts about how him and I are interacting and using your products or services on our trip as well and even the possibility to participate in Kid Con.
