General Hospital is my Guilty Pleasure

You know how people accuse stay at home moms doing nothing but sitting around the house all day doing nothing but watching soap operas and eating Bon-bons?

Well… that’s me. Sorta.

Okay, a little bit. I don’t eat bon-bons. (I prefer a bowl of ice cream, yogurt, potato chips or my lunch if I haven’t had it yet).  I don’t sit ALL DAY while I’m watching, I normally fold clothes during my soap opera time or blog or research a new project.

Annnd…. I don’t watch them all. In fact, I only watch ABC and not all of them all the time.

In fact, I really only watch General Hospital. I have since I was a little girl. I browse through the others or catch a few minutes on the Soap Net channel if I’m up late working but that’s about it.

So my earliest memory of my favorite soap opera was Luke and Laura’s wedding. It was called the most famous soap opera wedding and I don’t know that any others have lived up to it since…

From the time I was a little girl, I remember catching snippets of General Hospital with my mom and grandmothers. As I grew older, I would dish with my Mama about Frisco and Felica (I still miss them) or when Robin was discovered as Anna and Robert’s daughter (YES! I was growing up right along Robin ~ how funny is that?).

The most emotional GH moment for me though was when Stone died. You see, I was in the hospital on bed rest, trying to keep Bug from being born too early. The nurses thought I was a hoot. They just didn’t understand how long I’d been watching and how sad this moment was.

Yeah ok, so I watch General Hospital. So what? You all have your reality television (I can’t wrap my head around watching real people’s train wreck lives but okay…) and I have my soap opera.

So what?

The so what is that I’m now a General Hospital Moms Ambassador. A very cool program where I get to talk about GH and share information with you guys. It’s fun, I’m having fun and I have an excuse to sit and watch General Hospital and take notes for a great synopsis later or tweet about it instead of folding laundry.

Honestly, I’d rather do anything than fold laundry and this is the best excuse not to fold EVER.

I’ll be sharing some of my thoughts on GH over the next few weeks and hopefully recapping the weeks as well. Stick around and grab a bon-bon, we’ll have some fun!

I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other General Hospital branded items to facilitate my review.
