Ideas will strike me in the craziest of places (like the grocery store) or I’ll decide I need to check in with Erica on a design issue I was having.
Having a phone as smart as the Verizon Palm Pre Plus has made it easier for me to walk away from work when I need to and not feel that I’m letting work slide.
For example, as a Community Manager for MothersClick.com, it’s important for me to keep up to speed on notifications and stay connected with the other members of the MothersClick.com team. If a problem or issue arrives, I need to be able to respond to it.
All of my email accounts are tied into my Palm Pre Plus so that no matter what happens, I can open the email, read, and respond and take action if necessary. I don’t worry about missing an important notification or update.
When it comes to my freelance writing business, I network with a lot of different people and I am always on the look out for a great writing lead. I like to keep my options open and I like to be able to stay in touch with clients. Since my email comes through the Palm Pre Plus, if I get a notification that there’s an assignment opening up for me, I can not only check out the assignment but respond back to the lead with questions. If I”m working up a project for Phenomenal Content, I can keep in touch with my Editor through Google Talk… even while I’m sitting at the middle school waiting to pick up the teenager after school.
My business and my writing never feels very far away from me, even when I can’t be at my laptop waiting to hear back on a problem or client issue. I’m always connected and that gives me piece of mind.
I can turn off my phone and check in when needed or I can completely unplug and enjoy a night out. When I power back up, all my emails and correspondence are there waiting for me and that makes doing business much easier and more enjoyable for me.
**This is part of a promotion through Verizon Wireless. I was provided with a Palm Pre Plus and one month’s paid service to participate. No other compensation was received. As always, all opinions expressed and editorial are my own.
