Your Love is Contagious

Dear children,

For the last few weeks, I’ve managed to dodge your love. I even went out of town to Blissdom and left you with various family and your dad in the hopes that you would have spread love to him instead.

I’ve popped Vitamin C, extra doses of multi-vitamins, washed hands, refused to share any more than a hug (no kisses please) anti bacterial gel, and everything else I could think of to keep your love away from me.

But alas, I am no match for you. I am outnumbered and out of weapons of defense.

Sometime yesterday, my body broke down and gave in to the love you have for me. I felt it in my neck and shoulders. Like a hug that wanted to choke the life out of me (and I wouldn’t doubt it coming from my own spawn), I felt my chest constrict and as I gasped for air and coughed, a cough so violent and filled with STUFF (for lack of a better word), I knew, right then and there that you had finally won.

I am officially waving my white Kleenex as I truly do surrender. (more…)

Thank you for coming back! Please take a minute to tell me how I can improve your experience here by contacting me. Thank you for being a loyal reader!

A Shameful Wish to the Universe

A Shameful Wish to the Universe

Today’s post is written by Jennifer Hutcheson from Mami 2 Mommy

As I pushed my son’s stroller around the mall we were greeted by an elderly woman who began oohing and aahing over him.  I thought to myself, “how sweet”.

And then she opened her mouth. “Oh he’s so cute.  Is he yours?”

Umm…excuse me?  No, I just picked him up at the baby store down the road and thought he went well with my coat! (Okay, I didn’t say that but I really wanted to)

Then she tried to backtrack. “Well, it’s just that he doesn’t look anything like you!”

And there it was -the thought that had crossed through my own mind, which I had been denying to myself, since the birth of my son.

My son just didn’t look like me! (more…)

Review: I Heart Roku or How Roku is Saving me from SnowMyGod

As part of my promise to bring you some of the favorite products I reviewed in 2009 (did you link up yet?), my list would not be even close to complete if I didn’t include the Roku HDplayer.

Let’s just start by reflecting on the past two weeks shall we?

What happened in those last two weeks? Oh yes…. Snow. And then… more snow.

And then cabin fever set in. BIG TIME.

Kids, bouncing off the walls, mom needing to come down from a Blissdom high get work done, snow days…

General mass hysteria.

When I initially received the Roku, it was to be a part of the Holiday Gift Guide I was putting together but when we thought that Brian wouldn’t go back to work, I set that aside and garnered up more writing work so we could have a Christmas.

Needless to say it’s February.

Back to the Roku… (more…)

Taking Pen to Paper for a Valentine’s Day Love Letter

Taking Pen to Paper for a Valentine’s Day Love Letter

This year for Valentine’s Day, I sat down with a pen and wrote my husband a love letter.

You see, I’m terrible at being romantic. Don’t get me wrong, I love the romantic comedies and the tear-jerking dramas where the guy both gets and loses the girl. I am a sentimental sap.

But that’s where it ends.

Otherwise, I am pretty practical. Take for instance, the one year outside of my husband proposing to me that he bought me jewelry; I looked straight at him and said, ”What did you do wrong?”

“Aww honey, this is beautiful! I love it.” Nope. Not this gal.

Maybe it’s because I’m TOO practical or cynical, or heck, I just don’t wear a lot of jewelry so I don’t ask for it… but whatever the reason, I could not just take the romantic gesture of the jewelry and be happy with it.

Case in point, I usually buy two Valentine’s Day cards every year; one from the humor section that is very inappropriate and politically incorrect and one that pours out the most sentimental feelings paper and ink have ever seen.

Except this year.

You see, I can’t find a card that says, (more…)

Favorite Products from 2009

10 Feb

Last year I received a number of items that I had planned on reviewing and placing in a gift guides but between sick kids and Brian’s accident and then him going back to work and us settling in a new routine once again, I wasn’t able to highlight these items the way I wanted. In fact, the whole latter half of 2009 didn’t really go the way I’d planned in terms of business and blogging so I’m hoping to change that this year.

I’d still like to highlight our favorite items from last year. It only makes sense to do it in a series of reviews that I hope you’ll find useful and entertaining. As always, I will maintain full disclosure and offer you an honest review of the product.

Here’s the thing… I don’t just want to tell you about MY FAVORITE things from last year, I want you to share your favorite reviews from 2009 as well!

You are reading a post from Favorite Products from 2009 series. Read more reviews from this series.

Feel free to enter a link to one of your favorite/most loved reviews from 2009, this way we can share our favorites of 2009 together!
